Alex Napier joined Spice in 1969 after original drummer Nigel Pegrium left and recorded most of the tracks on the debute album. Some of the earlier Spice recordings that didn't make it to the record were later released on compilation cd 'The Lansdowne Tapes' in 1993. RECORDINGS LP VERY 'EAVY ... VERY 'UMBLE 1970 CD THE LANSDOWNE TAPES 1969/1993 Napier was fired before completion of the first album. After that he retired and hasn't played professionally any more. In early 80's he returned briefly to music and had a short lived project Alex Napier Band who recorded some demos but nothing came out of it. Napier passed away 19th January 2023.
