Bernie Shaw joined Uriah Heep in early 1987. He had auditioned already in the Summer of 1986 but Steff Fontaine was chosen at the time. After Fontaine was fired only after a few months, Shaw took the second chance and he has remained as vocalist ever since. During his over 35 years with the band Shaw has recorded nine studio albums and numerous live albums as well as live videos. In 1995 Shaw was replaced briefly by ex-vocalist John Lawton for one tour after Shaw was recovering from throath operation. This was just a temporary arrangement and Lawton never meant to join the band permanently. Lawton again substituted Shaw during European tour in the Summer of 2013.
